The future of broadcasting regulation in a digital landscape

Steve Hewlett on the future of broadcasting regulation:

“Ofcom talks about “public service content” rather than “public service broadcasting”. What’s more, the much discussed Public Service Publisher, initially offered up by Ofcom boffins to deal with emerging difficulties in public service TV, has been reinvented as a means of securing public benefits primarily in the fast-developing world of “digital, interactive, participative media”. Moreover, it will do this by giving money and support to specific projects that are aimed at bringing specific public benefits.”
